Logo and Branding

The logos and icons of the bulletin followed along the same kind of color scheme as the front cover. I liked all the blues that the bulletin background picture had so I went off of those to create the logo.

At the time I was thinking of angels and it reminded me of a video game I played when I was younger called “Divine Divinity”. Divinity sounded really pretty so I went with Divinity Baptist church as the title of my church and made the logo based off of the D in Divinity. Also keeping angels in mind I looked for some reference photos and found a pair of wings that I vectored next to the D to give the D wings. I messed with colors till I found something I liked and I went with the circular shape behind the main logo so it was more pleasing to the eye; it also went with the curve of the D and the wing tips so it looked a lot better.

The Kids logo I wanted the same aspect as the main logo but with some different dynamics. To make things look more exciting I did sharper points with the use of the K and the square as the background shape. The wings from the D in the main logo also were used for the K to resemble that it is still the kids ministry of Divinity Baptist Church. I followed the same type of color scheme to go with the church’s overall look and unification.

When creating the banner I usually like to be created in how things are arranged. I thought having the logo to the side would look nice as a start to the banner when reading left to right. I bracketed over an area to work in as I wanted to put more emphasis on the banner and keep it separate from the background. I used the words to “continue” the lines creatively on all sides. I used the titles, the information and the social media icons to achieve this. All the while following the main unified color scheme to tie everything together. The background for this is currently black on this post because on the bulletin they are white with a transparent background to see the picture underneath.

When vectoring the social media icons, I didn’t have any trouble much at all. I was able to work with the circle shape to please the eye like the main logo and use the cut tool to cut out the main icon from the circle so the icon was transparent through the circle.

Same goes for the social media icons when it comes to the discoloration in this post. These icons are white with transparent backgrounds that able the viewer to see the background image behind the icons. For this post I gave them random colors to show at least the design. The vectoring was a little harder with all the curves but in the end it turned out beautiful.
Overall, I think this project was really cool, time consuming but really helpful in the sense of experience and design. This project allowed me to get back into Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator again and expand what I already know for this project. Near the end of this project things got hectic. I know I need to work on my time management more and it will be a continual work in progress.
